Mission Statement
Young Changemakers is a non-profit organization designed to support students and educators as they navigate social concepts related to race, identity, and equity. Our approach to antiracist curriculum design fosters students that are culturally competent while developing strategies to become young advocates well versed in social justice.
My students have always come to me with a thirst for knowledge and truth. It is troublesome that most schools teach a one-dimensional lens of history and social studies because there is an assumption that children can not handle the truth, or better yet, there are teachers who still do not see the truth. The inspiration behind Young Changemakers is an abolitionist movement towards mainstream teaching. There is a difference between being 'not racist' and 'anti-racist'. This curriculum teaches students how to become seeds of change. It has been a huge privilege to work with children who remind me of the future we must continue to work towards, for that I am grateful." |
